Guest Rockford Posted September 9, 2005 Posted September 9, 2005 OK, here's the story... We have a client who have two LJD domes. They're set to patrol. Each of the cameras have two Redwall PIR sensors connected to alarm inputs one and two in the cams. one PIR covers the back gate and one covers the front so that when a person triggers the PIR, the cameras move to a preset position. Now, here's the thing. If someone walks in the back gate then straight out the front, the cam "snaps" from preset one to preset two, which is fine. The first time this happens, it causes the patrol to move out ten degrees to the left, so the cameras end up looking at the wall. This in turn also causes problems with the preset positions. We notice that this DOES NOT happen when each camera has only ONE PIR connected to it. Once the patrol has moved by ten degrees, it doesn't go any further of course, just ten degrees... BOTH cameras are doing this even though they have different Redwalls attached and are in different areas with different patrols... Anyone seen this before? Anyone have any ideas about how to fix it? By the way, telling me to send the cams back to LJD doesn't really help! Thanks a lot for any and all your suggestions! !
securitycctv Posted September 12, 2005 Posted September 12, 2005 Yes know what you mena about not bothering to send back to LJD. Are these their 18 times zoom sony PTZ's We have just installed some and they appear to be working OK. Not using alarm inouts at present but are about to link 2 in for use against a gate entry system. If I come across/or not the same thing I will post further. John
ian.cant Posted September 12, 2005 Posted September 12, 2005 Ive never used them but a wild shot in the dark type guess.......... Are the 2 alarms using a common negative? Surely they need to. Sorry, didnt mean to call you by that girly name, nothing personal of course
Doktor Jon Posted September 12, 2005 Posted September 12, 2005 Just a quick silly suggestion. Try testing the alarm switching function using a couple of manual switches in place of the Redwalls. If the problem cannot be duplicated, try using the PIR's to switch isolated external relays (which will do the same thing as your manual "dry" switches). If the problem still persists, you could try using a couple of diodes on the alarm contacts, just in case there's any very low level leakage on each alarm output.
Paul Giles Posted September 12, 2005 Posted September 12, 2005 We have just installed two COP domes (their flagship DN £*** range)! They have both lost their patrols and look at walls etc... We now have to order two new units and send the others back for a credit! PG Security Systems Somerset SSAIB Certificate of Merit Installers. www.pgsecurity.co.uk

We've tried it. It still causes the problem with the patrol. We haven't tried diodes and to be honest, I don't think we will now. This just wreaks of dodgy firmware on the cameras to me... I don't think we can really do any more with them now. I've seen your website BTW... V good! Thanks to everyone for your advice!
