Guest hurstd Posted October 25, 2003 Posted October 25, 2003 Had a user code from last onwer of house. Had to replace Electric ringthat unit was connected to - Hence Power outage to system . System back up but asking for eng code wjen I try to set. Have tried the user code I have. Any ideas or directions to a technical mannual - I have found the user guide so Know what to do but just don't have the correct code Thanks David
Service Engineer Posted October 25, 2003 Posted October 25, 2003 Dave is this a monitored alarm system, if so you`d be best to call the installing company. Engineer reset is not normally required unless the system is monitored. If its not monitored then a service timer may have kicked in. Did the panel go dead (completely downpowered) when the mains were off, if so how long was the mains off for..? ........................................................ Guest acchillo Posted July 30, 2004 Posted July 30, 2004 Hi, same problem. the service timer kicked in for a Gardtec 800 panel. I know that the option 22 has to be reset to 00 to avoid the nasty "maintenance required chime". However the engineer PIN is required. Ideas?
morph Posted July 30, 2004 Posted July 30, 2004 Its bound to be between 0000 and 9999 Seriously though with a gardtec 800 series you default the panel and reprogram it from scratch. Thing you have to be carefull off is that there is a facillity to lock the engineer code into the panel if this has been enabled, you wont be able to clear the engineer code. I would suggest you get a local company in to service the system and sort out the reset etc. Colin.
Guest acchillo Posted July 30, 2004 Posted July 30, 2004 If i understood it correctly, if the facility to lock in the engineer code is enabled, it can be unlocked only by sending the board to the manufacturer or through hardware manipulation. However, my only problem is shutting down the nasty chime generated by the service timer. And there must be a way to remove it in a soft way. Any idea? where can I find this information?
morph Posted July 30, 2004 Posted July 30, 2004 there is and you need to enter the engineer programming. or you could disconnect all the sounders.
Guest acchillo Posted July 30, 2004 Posted July 30, 2004 The system seems to be a 593/800 control panel with 32 characters Contour keypads. Assuming that the engineer code has not been locked, is there anything like "..Pressing 3, 7, YES, NO during initial power up will revert all system settings back to defaults with the exception of the User Names and Zone Descriptors". I can use to revert back to the default codes?
Guest acchillo Posted July 31, 2004 Posted July 31, 2004 Richl, I am probably quoting from the 593/800 manual, but I do not have the manual, just excerpts of it I found while doing my research. My only need is to find a soft way to remove the service timer, which produces a nasty chime and is not necessary as the system works fine (it is a simple alarm bell with a couple of sensors. Since I know that there is a combination of keys to do it, it would be great to know it so that at least I can try to do it myself. I could follow the sequence I mentioned in my mail, but I would need an expert view on whether it would work, as I do not have full access to the manual. I found the telephone number of the installer on the keypad of the display, and called that number. However, I was put through a recorded message that says that the company is having its annual shutdown until the end of August. I do not think it is particularly nice to set up a timer and then not be available, but the previous owner of the house must have liked that. I would like that guy (or an installer) to be my first point of contact for any problem/update and for maintenance services at my request, However, the vibes I get make me feel he is not someone I want to trust, and I am trying to make the system more independet. This is why I need help.
Biker C Posted July 31, 2004 Posted July 31, 2004 acchillo, The best advice i can give you, is for you to post the town you live in, and soon as the timer only gives you another 2 weeks to get this sorted. I am sure one of the lads on here will only be too willing to help. If the eng code is locked, and with service timer enabled it probably will be, you will need an engineer with laptop and appropriate software to gain access to re-programme the panel. The Installer of your system i agree sounds dissapointing not to give coverage over his holliday period. As i said post your town and see if someone close to you can help ??? Clive
Guest Peter James Posted July 31, 2004 Posted July 31, 2004 He must be doing alright to have a month off acchillo your company is obviosly a one man band and would definately not be an approved installer, post where you are and as biker c says someone on this site will be able to help. Pete
