Guest heliart Posted September 17, 2005 Posted September 17, 2005 I'm looking for a pair of good weather proof infrared beam detectors I can use on my front gates. Something like http://www.business-home-security.com/secu...ction/AX70T.asp Any advice? .
Service Engineer Posted September 17, 2005 Posted September 17, 2005 Takex, formerley Pulnix. http://www.pulnix.co.uk/ Optex, http://www.optexeurope.com/Beams/photoelectric_beams.htm Are two decent brands which spring to mind, but quite a few other manufacturers do weatherproof beam detectors. ........................................................ Zak Posted September 17, 2005 Posted September 17, 2005 The one in your post is an Optex anyway. As Dave said - choose one of those two - and you can't go wrong. Guest Peter James Posted September 18, 2005 Posted September 18, 2005 Reflector beams are most commonly used on gates as there is no need for tamper protection etc.
hastings Posted September 19, 2005 Posted September 19, 2005 Reflector beams are most commonly used on gates as there is no need for tamper protection etc. 68505[/snapback] That would depend on whether the beam was for holding the gates open or to trigger an alarm or camera preset ? Optex and pullnix both v good.
Guest heliart Posted September 19, 2005 Posted September 19, 2005 This is my config. I have two double front gates. One set is used by visitors, postman etc, the other is used to keep my motorhome safe on the drive, and these are locked with padlock. Ideally, I would like the the left hand gates set to chime the alarm, so I know when someone is visiting etc. The right hand set, I would like permanently armed. This is a long term project, so I'm just running cables at the moment. I was thinking of just putting magnetic contacts on the gates, but these would be easy to overcome, plus I'm concerned about how robust they, and the cables going to them would be over prolonged weather exposure. I really want to be able to go to bed at night, and know whether someone has opened, or worse still, stolen my front gates - that does happen!!!! , Steve
