Guest funkyman Posted September 18, 2005 Posted September 18, 2005 I have an Aritech CS350 panel which is showing a panel tamper constantly. I have held in the tamper button manually and it still shows and have carried out a continuity test on the button which seems to work (the two pins on top link to the two pins on the bottom when the button is pressed and the two top pins and two bottom pins are always connected) Is there any way to disable the panel tamper or check if the switch may be faulty. Will a reset to factory settings do anything except delete all the programming I have done? Thanks in advance for any help.

Guest funkyman Posted September 18, 2005 Posted September 18, 2005 I found the problem: The Panel Tamper must be looped with the Auxiliary Tamper. I linked out the Aux Tamper in the panel and the message disappeared once I closed the panel. The problem I have now is finding the break in the tamper loop... Thanks for the reply.
Guest graale00 Posted September 21, 2005 Posted September 21, 2005 If in doubt, link it out, but make sure somebody is called to sort the tamper problem as soon as possible.
bellman Posted September 21, 2005 Posted September 21, 2005 If in doubt, link it out, but make sure somebody is called to sort the tamper problem as soon as possible. 69040[/snapback] Err, linking out like that is a bad idea since the cable and device that is attached to it is now no longer protected. Say for example this was a SAB tamper that had gone high resistance because the tamper switch had corroded so you link it out. what then happens when it starts ringing at 3AM because you didn't repair the switch? Tamper faults can also indicate damage to wiring for example cables chewed by rodents, so you link it out and that night mr mouse comes back and chews a bit more thus causing a false call to the police. Better to fix it now. It's a cheaper and better solution for all concerned. Granted some situations may warrant its use as a diagnostic aid but temp repairs like that have a habit of becoming permanant.
