Guest Andys2 Posted September 19, 2005 Posted September 19, 2005 I have an Optima XL6 installed and I had a power cut on Sunday, now the 'power' and 'Zone1' LED's are on but none of the buttons on the panel will respond, what do I need to do to reset the alarm? The battery back-up seems OK, if I take out the mains fuse, the lights stay on. Also the alarm was working fine before the power cut. Thanks in advance. Andy
Guest Peter James Posted September 19, 2005 Posted September 19, 2005 The battery is the cause, the non response is the symptom. When was it last serviced?
bellman Posted September 19, 2005 Posted September 19, 2005 Sounds like it has crashed, Several things cause optimas to die, Most common is bad batteries. Spikes surges and sags on the mains supply also do this. How long was the power cut for? and just because the lights stay on dosn't mean the battery is functioning correctly, It needs a proper load and discharge test to acertain its correct operation. Sometimes a complete removal and restoration of all power works, sometimes they need defaulting and reprogramming. If it's the latter you will need an engineer to repair it for you. They also lock on activation of tamper or pa ccts but it's unlikely to be this in your case. Guest Andys2 Posted September 19, 2005 Posted September 19, 2005 Sounds like it's the battery as it's 9 years old!! Probably needs a service too. Bellman, you have PM Andy
Guest Peter James Posted September 19, 2005 Posted September 19, 2005 Nine years old! it should of been replaced 5 years ago!
morph Posted September 19, 2005 Posted September 19, 2005 You also need to get the engineer to check the charging circuit and associated components carefully.
bellman Posted September 19, 2005 Posted September 19, 2005 Post your location as their may be an engineer close to you. Regards Bellman Service Engineer and all round nice bloke ) The views above are mine and NOT those of my employer.
