Guest Carolyn Posted September 19, 2005 Posted September 19, 2005 Hello My friend has just moved into her first house and has an Accenta 8 mini alarm. She has been cooking tea and the oven tripped which set off the alarm. The alarm rang for approx 10 mins and has just stopped but the light is still flashing. She tripped the switches bavk on, but no change. The lights are on th key pad in th background. Can anyone help? Many thanks
Guest Posted September 19, 2005 Posted September 19, 2005 She needs to type in a user code to silence the alarm then press reset to stop the external strobe flashing. It shouldn't have gone of when the power failed though so needs looking at to get it up to a working standard. I would always recommend a service when moving into a property and inheriting an unknown system to prevent problems such as this. Visit the installer link at the top of the page and see if anyone is in your area who can assist.
Guest Peter James Posted September 19, 2005 Posted September 19, 2005 Another system that hasnt been serviced for a while, it sounds like the battery is u/s(and possibly the charging circuit as well) Call the installer they will check and restart the system, replace the battery, and offer a maintenance contract. Their number should be on the bell box. Pete
Guest Carolyn Posted September 19, 2005 Posted September 19, 2005 Hello Thank you for the fast response. She has tried to input the number on the key pad and it wont work at all - she has tried to press reset and all the other buttons but it won't change how it is! Do you think that it will be safe for her to leave it overnight with the light flashing. She has tried the number on the alarm box and there is no answer and she is on her own at 9.45pm at night? Will the light keep flashing all evening or will it eventually stop? Thanks again Carolyn
Guest Posted September 19, 2005 Posted September 19, 2005 I've got a feeling the light will carry on flashing all night. If there is no response from the keypad at all then there is a fault on the system somewhere and may or may not re-activate during the night, but more than likely not, but I don't know.
Guest Carolyn Posted September 19, 2005 Posted September 19, 2005 Thanks again Is there no way that she can stop the light flashing?? Carolyn
Guest Posted September 19, 2005 Posted September 19, 2005 Not without the presence of an engineer I'm afraid, unless the fault suddenly clears and she can get to type in her code and reset the panel.
Guest Carolyn Posted September 19, 2005 Posted September 19, 2005 Ok then, thanks for your help. Great website. Carolyn
