amateurandy Posted September 20, 2005 Posted September 20, 2005 I have to confess that, as a DIY-er myself I was very confused by this. The questions asked have all been answered before in public areas and seem perfectly reasonable for a newbie. And most of the information is actually in the DIY guide on the web site. Try not to get too precious about mundane technical details that aren't actually a serious security issue.
Brian c Posted September 20, 2005 Posted September 20, 2005 Blind leading the blind, 68802 Not at all Colin. The post was hidden, not deleted, untill a decision could be made. Would you rather mods did want they wanted without discussing it? Posts with prices and swearing are easy enough to moderate, but ones like this need to be looked at individually. If you actually search the Diy forums there are worse posts than this and personally the post tells nothing that the average diy manual or book doesn't. 68802 If it were up to me I would have NO trade info in the public forums, even if it is basic. However, Service Engineer and lots of other members disagree. About time we had some consistencey in the moderation. 68802 Due to recent discussions on the subject, bellman wasn't sure wether it should be allowed or not. So he took action and hid it untill a decision could be made. You were quick enough to jump down our throats for not taking action, only the other day. It seems we are being consistent in trying to please you without success. The issue was resolved and the post reinstated within about 20 minutes, after being discussed by mods. I don't see a problem?? If you don't know......ask.

Every moderated post with tech info would end up under the same scrutiny as this one, with some agreeing it should be removed and others feeling it should stay. This is why I feel a blanket rule of 'No trade info in public forums' would prevent these timewasting debates. If you don't know......ask.

Brian c Posted September 20, 2005 Posted September 20, 2005 Dont need to please me Brian, 68813 Why do you keep complaining then? but again this topic is an example of moderation going mad. 68813 Why? Like i said... The issue was resolved and the post reinstated within about 20 minutes, after being discussed by mods. I don't see a problem?? If you don't know......ask.
bellman Posted September 20, 2005 Posted September 20, 2005 I sometimes wonder why I bother to be honest. As Bri quite correctly pointed out above, I was unsure about the content of the post and removed it from public view untill I could gain clarification. I PM'd the poster to explain why it had been hidden and that it would be reinstated after checking with other mods. This all happened within a few mins and the post was back within a few more. Not quite "moderation gone mad" (I'm quite sane thanks), nor was it "blind leading the blind" (I have perfect eyesight) Perhaps it's just me but reading between the lines some posters do seem to be upperty about the moderators actions. especially when the aforementioned posters are not in possesion of all the facts. Back in my day this was refered to as "stirring" A wise man once said:- Best way to save face, Keep lower half closed. Guest graale00 Posted September 20, 2005 Posted September 20, 2005 Oh dear I seemed to have started a riot!! Thanks for explaining that for me, so it is the connector block way I was thinking of. I think after installing an Expander on an ATS for the first time (look at me being all posh and technical) I've got to grips with using the connector blocks and I am assuming I can use the same method to connect up the 3 Pa's and 2 Smoke detectors on a system my old man wants. for all your all help mind. STOP ARGUING!! LOL AL.
bellman Posted September 20, 2005 Posted September 20, 2005 We don't but there are plenty of "heated debates". Usually over small technicalities or something simlar, it helps keep us on our toes By the way, did you apply for trade access? bellman Posted September 20, 2005 Posted September 20, 2005 Firstly your sanity could be questioned very easily, True, but they say the line between madness and intellegence is a blurred one. Anyway, wasn't me that ran off to join the airforce and secondly you wear specs. 68845 As do you and they give me perfect vision Regards Bellman Service Engineer and all round nice bloke ) The views above are mine and NOT those of my employer.
