Guest TallDave Posted October 27, 2003 Posted October 27, 2003 Hi, I moved into my house fairly recently and it has a Veritas alarm fitted. I have a user guide, but no other details. Looking at the Texecom website, I think it must be a Veritas R8 system. It is set up with the main box (sorry, not sure of technical term) in the garage (which is not alarmed incidentally!!) and keypads in the house near front and back doors. When I set leave the house after entering the code (or enter the house before I type the code in), the box in the garage emits 10 or so loud beeps from the internal sounder . Is it possible to turn the volume of this down/off as it advertises to the whole street that I'm going out and it's quite embarassing at night when everything is so quiet ? Is there anything I can do about it, or should I try and find out who installed it ... Thanks
FASTCAR Posted October 28, 2003 Posted October 28, 2003 Sounds like a lazy install , the end station should be in a secure area , get the garage alarmed.Ideally the speaker should be on the exit route , ie , in the house , (it is removeable for this reason). There is a volume control on the centre of the pcb inside the end station , or just disconnect the speaker and make do with the beepers on the keypad.Best bet is to find a reliable ,local installer to take it over, and bring it up to your requirements.
Guest dale Posted October 28, 2003 Posted October 28, 2003 The best thing to do is get the alarm company who installed it and insist that they add a garage door contact (or dual tech) in the garage for free or at least at cost, cause it should have been done in the first place! Admitedly I have installed the control panel in a garage and not armed the garage because I was lazy, but that was for my best mate and I didnt charge him for the equiptment or install, so that don't count... although I think I will call round his tonight and stick a dual tech in!
