I'm not the worlds greatest Aritech expert but it sounds like you have got the wires mixed up when you reconnected the contact.

Have you got another door contact on the system?

If so check that the wire colours in the one you reconnected match the other contact.

Could it also be set for engineer reset on tamper?

Easy way to tell,

Shane, when you try to set it do you get an exit/entry sound or just error tone from panel?

If it's giving an exit entry sound, (May be different to the usual one but will still continue for the duration of the exit time). Then it's trying to set so is not set for Eng reset on tamper.

If you get an error bleep then silence then it's eng reset i'm afraid. :(

Btw, you may need to clear the tamper fault before it resets (told you I wasn't hot on Aritech)

Sound like it's either your wiring that's incorrect or your contact is incorrectly fitted\faulty.

Check your resistors or wires are not shorting together. Its not set up for engineer reset as it would not allow you to get into the setting routine.

the CD34 is pretty basic and my moneys on a short, especially if you are using the standard surface contact with your resistors in the contact.

It sounds like the resistors were built in to or hidden in the old contacts, and although you have connected the wires ok, you are missing a resistor or two.

If you don't know......ask.
