I have replaced my father-in-laws control panel with a veritas 8 compact unit the old one had stopped working. Everthing is working fine except the pir I am trying to use as and entry/exit zone. when u set the alarm it bleeps whilst you exit but when you re-enter the pir detects you but does not trigger the entry sounder. I have set the zone as both a guard zone and a inhibited entry and in both these modes it triggers the alarm. Why is it not working as an exit/entry ????

:console:

Thanks

Hi ,

Its good practice to fit a contact on the ex/ent zone.

Have you fully walk tested the system to confirm which pir is activating which zone , as you may be programming the wrong zone.Make sure you give the system time to set (strobe confirmation?), and give the pir time to sense you , some pirs will light up on the first pulse but only trigger on the third.

Regards,

I have walk tested the system and all looks ok, I have set the zone as guard an it imediately triggers the alarm it just does not seem to work as entry/exit. It operated as entry/exit on the old control panel ??

I take it the problem is on zone 1 , then put a short length of cable to simulate the zone wiring , and try again , the idea being to prove a wiring or programming fault.I take it you are full arming and not part?.Also , what shows on the display when you get it to alarm??.

..or default and try again.

the zone is actually zone 3 and ive changed this to be entry/exit. If you set it as guard and trigger it it just shows alarm zone 3

Have you pragrammed zone 1 as guard as that is entry\exit out of the box by default.

yes i have had it set as guard and entry/exit whilst testing it

Zone 1?

Let me put it another way, have you done anything to alter the programming of any other zones apart from zone 3?
