A few camera questions

Can you get the extensions of the cable i nedd from local places like maplins?

It's RCA cable (by the looks of it) and one is a female connector and the other is for the power adaptor, is there a special name for this cable or conectors?

RCA cable? I would imagine that being a cheap camera it's phono. You can wire it in RG59 with a .75 twin flex for power as you would with a normal camera. This gives you the option of upgrading at a later date.

I'll check the output power to check, thanks!

As for the cable, how would i attach the RG59 and .75 twin flex to the existing cables?

I would crimp a BNC connector on the RG59 and use an appropriate adaptor. You may not have the tools for crimping the BNC so you could just solder on the appropriate matching connector. Same sort of thing for the power, fit a power plug matching the socket on the camera.

Either solder on 2.1mm sockets for the 12vdc that is if the cam has a plug fitted or you could snip the plug off strip the ends and connect through with a choc bloc (pvc connector block) Making sure you get the polarity correct. As for the Co-ax prefarably crimp on BNC plugs or the twist on type with self amalgamating tape.

You will get all the connectors from maplin the Rg59 too probably When using co-ax of any sort you can usually tell the quality by a nice thick screen braid not the whispy stuff some major DIY chains sell and i prefer the type wth a foam inner core with the foil lap glued to it as opposed to the semi air spaced type.

Thanks, yes i always get the foil wrapped ones, just look and feel better quality!

I just hate paying Maplins over priced stuff, but for what i want buying in bulk is just silly!

cheers,

btw - let me know what decision you make on the DVR!

Yes waiting for some feedback from Baywatch (see other thread) as he fitted an R200 last week and is due a call back this week on site he said he would post how the unit performed

Yes, read the thread!

hopefully it will be good, i think the extra will be worth it for the audio!

From what i can see you can add 4 seperate microphones, and it will only record the sound depending on which camera is activated via the motion detection, does this read the same to you?

Also I want to out put each camera through the loop through and connect it to an RF module, then i can connect that up to my TV's

As the r200 only has 1 audio output, does this mean it will output the audio for which ever camera it has been set up with?
