Allso Posted October 17, 2005 Posted October 17, 2005 Do I need to power the panel off to change a PIR safely (ie without damaging the new PIR or the panel), or can I do it by just being very careful not to short out the power wires? My user code will quieten the tamper. I'd rather not cut power to the panel as I've found this makes the bell ring. Also - is a "dual element" PIR similar or different to a "quad" PIR. Ta, Allso
Adi Posted October 17, 2005 Posted October 17, 2005 Remove mains power then remove aux fuse from panel. I really can't be ar**** with it anymore.
Mister_Dave Posted October 17, 2005 Posted October 17, 2005 Change the battery as well. Thats why the siren goes when you power down. Dave Oxendale York based security systems engineer.
Zak Posted October 17, 2005 Posted October 17, 2005 Change the battery as well. Thats why the siren goes when you power down. No its not - from - another thread- he was trying to default codes and completely powered down. But anwyay, if he wants to power down to replace a detector then he would not keep the battery connected either would he? breff Posted October 17, 2005 Posted October 17, 2005 cut all the cables 1 at a time at the pir, then when refitting strip and insert into the terminals 1 at a time. The opinions I express are mine and are usually correct! (Except when I'm wrong)(which I'm not)
Allso Posted October 17, 2005 Author Posted October 17, 2005 cut all the cables 1 at a time at the pir, then when refitting strip and insert into the terminals 1 at a time. I like this one - sounds both practical and safe for non-experts, assuming the wire length will take the trimming. Thanks, Allso
