Guest dolly Posted October 19, 2005 Posted October 19, 2005 After a recent fire in my house my alarm panel no longer works. there is no damage to the censors or the c/panel. the fire brigade turned of the electric at the mains and when switched on again the alarm went off i then put in my code and the alarm turned of as usual. since then the lights on the box lit are tamper and power, no matter which buttons i press there are no beeps, any idea`s how to fix would be greatly appreciated. kind regards dolly
Mavrick_001 Posted October 19, 2005 Posted October 19, 2005 Hi Dolly, well it looks as though there is a tamper fault, now this could be the heat as it may have warped the lids on the detectors and the tamper spring isn't seating properley otherwise it could be the cables if the fire was near them?? Anyway if the code has stoped it and the pwr and tamper light are on and it's locked out and no bleeps then there is a tamper fault and the system won't reset until you've sorted the problem. 2 Ways of doing this, 1st is to press reset and go around the detectors, make sure they're flashing, remove the lid's and make sure they click the spring when you put them back on. The panel will bleep and the day light will come on when you've fixed it and all back to normal. 2nd way is to call someone out to have a look at it and give it the once over, which would probabally be your best bet as the smoke may have gone inside the detectors and it would be worth while giving the system a good service whilst there. Personally I'd suggest this.. not because I want to see someone make money out of you but becase the alarm has a fault following the fire and really it could do with being looked at. I'm sure if you tell us where abouts you are someone will offer their services to you on here for a reasonable rate and you'll be happy knowing all's well. Zak Posted October 19, 2005 Posted October 19, 2005 And if you are making an insurance claim for fire damage then you will be within your rights to call out a professional company to check out the system (additional benefit if it hasn't been serviced regularly).
