Hi All,

Can anyone help me here please? We had a power outage today at 9.15am My alarm sounder / light kicked off at approx 1.30pm for approx 45mins thenit went quiet but the light continued to flash.

Power was restored approx 5.15 pm but I couldn't reset the alarm.

Feaaring a flat battery I left things till 8.00 pm and tried again, no joy. UNSET light ON on the panel but no response from the keys.

I undid the big panel upstatirs to try to remove the battery and that must be tamper proof. As soon as I lifted the front panel off, the thing kicked off again. I undid the battery but still it rang so I put it back on and refised the front panel, and waited....

After 15 mins the alarm stopped sounding, light is still flashing, and the panel only has the UNSET light lit.

It will not react to any other keys.

Anyone any idea how to reset this thing?

Can you copy any posts here to davesm@freeuk.com, I travel alot and may get the mail easier than the NET

Thanks

the panel has probably defaulted, try 4321 if that works you'll then need an engineer to reprogram it.

The opinions I express are mine and are usually correct!

(Except when I'm wrong)(which I'm not)

Ok, here's what fixed it, with very many thanks to craig hilton.

After such a long power cut , the battery eventually died.

This can cause the system to crash as the voltage reaches about 8V.

This was corrected by :

removing the main 240v supply,

removing the panel lid , which set it off again

disconnecting the battery ,

then

turning on the mains again

The alarm now responded to my OLD user code to silence it.

Reconnected the battery

Close the lid.

After that it didn't like my old code.

After a short wait I used 4321 and the system accepted that,

and then I changed my back back again.

Very many thanks again to Craig Hilton

But your system isn't really fixed, it's defaulted itself so really wants checking over\reprogramming.

I am fairly certain you will decide that it 'appears' to work and disregard this advice, as most people tend to do.

And what exactly is a 'Pretend alarm engineer' when he's at home then, someone who dresses up in a scruffy polo shirt and a pair of dirty jeans driving something like an Astra or similar usually full of burger wrappers :hmm:

Yeah pretty much
