TVX - Remember them?

I've just come across TVX unit, it looks like an elongated PIR with a CMOS B&W camera lens poking out the front. Apart from it having its own internal battery, I know nothing about this unit, that supposedly takes up to 4 pictures at 1 sec intervals after the PIR trips. Does the team know if to make use of these devices I need a TVX-specific panel capable of handling the imagery, or can they work with any standard panel, recovering the still on-site later...?

Is it one of These ?

I wish it was - that looks sleek and sexy - the one I have is clearly of similar parentage but less imposing. Think of a PIR with a crude plastic telescope lens sticking out the front, and you've got the picture!

IIRC the brand you mention was part of Modern
Ill try my memory now. The product was launched around 94 and was made in Canada there was a lot of hype around at that time about confirmed alarms and most people had money on cameras with audio in second place followed by or dismissing sequential. Modern Alarms embraced the product and that was the end of that. The industry was just not geared for compression on CCTV in those days and the picture capture I think was a JPEG to the ARC via dial in modem with about 4 frames one of which was pre-alarm.

I pulled some out recently, they dont half draw some current, 200ma each.

They have the normal alarm connections and an RS485 bus that the 'photos' are transmitted over to a TVX controller.

Horrible, horrible things.

The opinions I express are mine and are usually correct!

(Except when I'm wrong)(which I'm not)
