Guest wyresoft Posted November 8, 2003 Posted November 8, 2003 As with a few other postings I've just read, I too have moved into a new house and, I too have no user manual etc for an 'Optima' Alarm. Unfortunately, I cannot find any identifying info other than Optima. I don't know if its an XM, XL or anything. There's 6 LEDs for Zone (I think they're for zone) LEDs for Power, Attack, Tamper and Day, Then there's a fifteen key, keypad - and that's it. Will the instructions for the others work? - Can I reduce the entry/ exit time? Can I get an installation manual? Does this unit need servicing? Can I get the lid off the box outside without the alarm sounding? I've downloaded a manual for the XM but it doesn't give me much apart from turning the unit on or off. Any help greatly appreciated Wyresoft
Guest wyresoft Posted November 9, 2003 Posted November 9, 2003 Thanks Peter, at least that's a start. It is a rubber keypad - at least that's how I would describe it. Unfortunately, no idea when box was last serviced. I've had the lid off the control box inside and again, no identifying markings, and no hints as to installer, serviced by or anything. I was wondering about changing the cover screw on the outside unit as it's gone rusty, but by the looks of things I'd be as well getting someone in to service it and change the screw at the same time. The entry / exit is set to something like two minutes which is ridiculous as the unit is almost next to the door, so I'd need that reducing as well. Looks like a local company will be getting a call! Thanks again.
Guest ChexSec Posted January 2, 2004 Posted January 2, 2004 Not quite right If your panel has six zones it is definately not a membrane keypad. The main difference between the XM and the XL is the XL has illuminated keys (the L stands for LED) You will need the engineer code to change the entry and exit timers. Try pressing PROG then 9999 to see if the default code is set. Also note that on the optima range the exit time will only start when all zones are clear. So it may be set less than 2 minutes in actual fact. Try pressing the SET button twice on exit.
Guest oldtimer Posted January 2, 2004 Posted January 2, 2004 If the panel has a membrane or flat feypad with i think orange in colour then you have the original non NVM Optima. If you have raised rubber buttons grey in colour then you have the Optima XM with NVM and if it is a 6 zone then it is a XL Optima.. If you have the original and I think you do it will be about 20 years old so me thinks you have got a good deal there. If you remove the power from this panel then it will revert to factory settings ie 0123 customer code 9999 engineers code.
