Guest dale Posted November 10, 2003 Posted November 10, 2003 Have any of you seen at B&Q they have response alarms, that are basically just ADE optima's reboxed and rebranded.... they come with cheap and tacky sensors though... very retro 80's looks! The one I saw was £99.98 for a 2 PIR, 2 Mags, very cheap bell box and an optima 6 zone thing! Suprisingly the system doesnt come with a battery. So how much do you think it really costs then guys? Who will start the bidding at £50? Personaly I wouldnt touch it with a barge pole - ADE aint exactly the stableist of companies of late, and as for some of the cheap parts, whilst they do the job I wouldnt like to think id put my house in its hands! Dale
morph Posted November 10, 2003 Posted November 10, 2003 Responce and ADE are both owned by Novar Plc. So they will get the gear for next to nothing. Colin
JB_ Posted November 10, 2003 Posted November 10, 2003 Is it the old XM or XL panel's they're using, or the new compact/G3 stuff?
Guest dale Posted November 10, 2003 Posted November 10, 2003 Compact 6 zone - manual is terrible though D
dinefwr Posted November 11, 2003 Posted November 11, 2003 I've seen the old omnicron aj600n rebadged and on sale as a kit also.
paul fae kings Posted November 11, 2003 Posted November 11, 2003 well said Pete banghead banghead Doubt they will ever take any notice though Joe punter thinks their getting a bargain, when actually its the start of a load of hassle for them.Unreliability, false alarms etc
Guest dale Posted November 12, 2003 Posted November 12, 2003 Whats even worse is when they buy these sytems and they go wrong, they call us out and expect us to fix the system and certify the installation.... well they can think again!
Service Engineer Posted November 27, 2003 Posted November 27, 2003 When EN50131 comes into effect, itll put and end to all these cheap n nasty DIY kits, as you know there will be classes of equipment 1 to 4, and these large DIY companies will not get permission to sell them as only a compliant system installed by a registered company will meet any insurance needs, that is off course assuming these large diy companies dont start their own installation companies. Nothing sold in any DIY shop is gonna even be Class 1 compliant, so whats the point of buying anything for a home thats only fit for the garden shed..? ........................................................ Dave Partridge (Romec Service Engineer)
Guest dale Posted November 28, 2003 Posted November 28, 2003 But it wont stop joe punter from buying the kits, fitting it themselves and thinking they are protected. Is Joe Punter bothered that they might get 5% off their home insurance by spending a bit to have the system properly installed... or are they more bothered about short term savings on a crappy DIY installed system that probably wont go off if someone breaks in?
