Getting a speech dialer to work properly!!

Hoping for an answer.....

I am using a new Gardtec 816 control panel and an old Menvier SD1 speech dialer but I can't seem to get them to work together nicely!

I can get the speech dialer to make a test call but after an alarm condition all I get is maybe one ring on the phone that is receiving the call, then it stops - it doesn't even ring long enough to answer it. Sometimes it doesn't even make the call.

The speech dialer worked fine on the previous control panel that was installed,, could I have programmed the panel wrong or not put a resister somewhere.

Yours hopefully!!!!!

All you need is power & trig from panel, easy enough.

I would check the programing of the dialler. :)

Top tip: if you ever catch fire, try to avoid seeing yourself in the mirror, because i bet thats what REALLY throws you into a panic and dont forget the one thing you cant recycle is wasted time.

Are you on broadband?? If so have you got a filter fitted?? Is the trigger polarity right on the dialler, you may also need to fit pull-up resistors between the outputs on the panel at the bottom and 12v if your diying it you might have a headache on your hands... if you know what your upto it's pretty easy lol.... give us a clue what the setup is and we'll try to be of more help

It's got its own phone line, nothing else on it.

Polarity is set to negative on the dialer as I believe the panel is negative.

I have a 6k8 resister between 12hr alarm and 12v but haven't put one on pa yet.

Anything else you need to know??

So the alarm panel output is Pos removed (resistor between 12hr and 12v) which does not fall to Ov and wont supply a neg to start the dialler, why dont you start the dialler of the bell output or is there not a relay on a 816 (not a big Gaurdtec fan so not shure) that you could use.

No PMs please unless i know you or you are using this board with your proper name.

As Nova says, just use the bell trigger instead, program the sd1 to abort by restore, then even if you do a bell test it will automatically cancel the call as soon as you stop.

The opinions I express are mine and are usually correct!

(Except when I'm wrong)(which I'm not)

Hi Andy1

If it works on test it should be ok on alarm. Are you aborting the alarm before checking the dialer's working? If so, you may be the reason it's not completing it's message.

Best wishes

Vince

Practice in the morning, practice at night. Practice in the evening, until you get it right.

Only make sure you are practising in the right way at the right time for it.

If you are using the digi outputs i am sure you need pull up resisters to make it work.

not used gardtech for years

Vince I think you have hit the nail on the head,,,,,,,

I assumed that the SD1 would continue it's phone calls until it received an acknowledgement ie, the person receiving the phone call pressing '8'

I was just giving it long enough to make the call and swiping the tag accross to stop the noise!!!!!!

I take it the dialer stops when the alarm is reset????????????

No it wont stop when the alarm is reset once tripped the sd1 will only stop when 8 is pressed. Or when it finaly gives up
