People warned to read small print

People in South Tyneside are being warned to read the small print when it comes to being offered free items.

Trading Standards workers have received complaints from a number of people who have been sent flyers telling them they have won a free burglar alarm system.

They are then visited and given a form to sign to claim their prize.

However, in reality they are signing a document which ties them in to a 12-month maintenance contract which will cost about
