Guest m0j00 Posted November 29, 2005 Posted November 29, 2005 Hi everyone, Im new to this forum and im after a bit of help with the accenta 8 alarm system which is installed in the house ive just bought. The problem is as follows : The alarm panel seems to set ok from either RKP but when you walk through an active zone there is an activation but no internal/external sounder or strobe. Entering the code back in the panel shows the zone that has activated and allows me to reset the alarm. This happens on any zone which is tripped.Even the entry/exit zone allows the 30 delay then nothing,no alarm is heard. We had a power cut about a week ago but i cant confirm if the alarm sounder / strobe was activating or not before that time because it goes through the motions as a nomal set. I only realised it wasnt working correcly when i forgot to dis-arm the alarm and walked through 3 zones. Ive done the user diagnostic tests on the strobe, internal/external sounder and the walk test they work ok. The system has had a new battery fitted in june. Any advise would be great M0j00
Service Engineer Posted November 29, 2005 Posted November 29, 2005 Does the bell sound when you test it..? Prog - Code - 0 - 3 - RESET - RESET If it does then there may be a Bell Delay in operation. ........................................................ Dave Partridge (Romec Service Engineer)

Thanks for the reply. Yes the bell on 3 ,the internal sounder on 4, the strobe on 2 and the high volume sounder on 2 4 all work. I have suspected there may be a delay set.Would the bell delay also apply to the strobe and the internal sounder as well ?.Do you know the maxinmum delay time possible.I suspect something like 99 mins is the max?. I may just leave my alarm in alarmed state for a while to see if anything happens. I dont have the engineers code so a NV ram clear may be in order ? Steve
Guest Peter James Posted November 29, 2005 Posted November 29, 2005 Sounds like you have all the detectors progged as entry exit? Try setting the alarm and activating a detector off the entry route i.e. one you wouldnt normally pass to get to or from the rkp on your way in or out. Remember after the initial 30 secs entry time has expired you may have 10-20 seconds hurry up tone before the full alarm activates. Pete
Guest m0j00 Posted December 1, 2005 Posted December 1, 2005 Hi, Service Engineer hit the nail right on the head.It was the bell delay which had been set to 93 minutes wich is very handy . Many thanks all for the assistance. M0j00
Guest Posted December 1, 2005 Posted December 1, 2005 And people wonder why they shouldn't be allowed to mess around with engineering settings on alarms.
