Guest rmitch32 Posted December 8, 2005 Posted December 8, 2005 Sorry if this info has been posted before but.... I moved into my house last year and the scantronic 9448 alarm had been installed in the house. I have the arm/disarm code etc etc but i have no manuals or info on the alarm. 1st Problem --- When the alarm is set, how long do i have to wait before it is armed etc is there a default time? 2nd Problem --- Is tyhere any way of testing the external siren/strobe?? 3rd Problem --- Should the pir sensors show a red light when they are detecting movement?? Please help me out as the company that installed the alarm has now ceased trading, thealarm was put in about 15yrs ago(i think) Thanks in advance Rob PS the alarm control just states 9448 if that is any help....
amateurandy Posted December 8, 2005 Posted December 8, 2005 The easiest way to test it would surely be to set it off. If you've definitely got the codes you can disarm it once you have your answer. I'm sure a pro will give a more detailed answer, but as far as I know most modern PIR's can be programmed to flash or not as required, via dip switches inside the PIR (nothing to do with the control panel). As for the default arming time I personally don't know, but it could have been changed anyway. Why not just set it and wait, it is unlikely to be more than a minute or 2, more likely 10 seconds or so, unless programmed to set upon a specific trigger sucha s a door cloising or button push. Good luck.

Depends on what was programmed, normally about 30/40 secconds depending on how far the keypad is from the door. 2nd Problem --- Is tyhere any way of testing the external siren/strobe?? Yes use the bell test feature, see attached user guide 3rd Problem --- Should the pir sensors show a red light when they are detecting movement?? Yes in domestic install they are normally enabled, but most installers would not fit the pir in a position that it could be seen from outside the premises. Please help me out as the company that installed the alarm has now ceased trading, thealarm was put in about 15yrs ago(i think) Thanks in advance Rob PS the alarm control just states 9448 if that is any help.... I would suggest that the system is serviced and new battery fitted as this will ensure that the system continues to function correctly and that no problems occur in the early hours of a morning when you cant get help. Post what area you are in and one of us should be able to give you a competitive cost for a service. 9448_user_guide_496237_iss_4.pdf
