ranger Posted December 9, 2005 Author Posted December 9, 2005 OK so sounds like a good idea to keep the panel. So is there no hardware way of resetting the engineer code? Or anything really. As you mentioned. Its of no use to me atm The above is my personal opinion and not that of my employer or anyone else.

Its of no use to me atm You can not reset the panel if the eng code is "locked". if (and as far as i have understood) BG has their own default eng code and the panel is not locked you can default the panel but not the code.. BG code however must (i think) be only four or six digits so in worst case you have to enter only 1009999 (+-1) codes to find a proper one. So you sould rather buy a new pcb (worth of
ABC Posted December 9, 2005 Posted December 9, 2005 There is a way to hard default DSC panels, but if the panel's software was changed from DSC's default version and provided to be proprietary, then the hard default will not take. If the hard default takes, the entire panel would need to be programmed, should it default.
Guest Posted December 9, 2005 Posted December 9, 2005 If the hard default takes, the entire panel would need to be programmed, should it default. which is 5 minutes as mentioned above. if you use Up/download software ie. DLS2002 it will take 10 minutes..
ranger Posted December 10, 2005 Author Posted December 10, 2005 OK i rang them last night, and got them to do a few tests for me We now have, what i believe to be the master code. (01P) From here i can use basic test features ext and tell them how to use it. Seen as the all the devices should be programmed for use before they moved in. But, what i was wondering was.. does the DSC panels have to be reset by engineer code if i was to remove the panel lid to check the battery? Or could i get away with entering the master code? (So i can look at all the sensors too) Regards, Ranger. The above is my personal opinion and not that of my employer or anyone else.

As it was a professional install it is highly likely that creating a tamper condition (by opening the panel lid) will require an engineer reset.
ranger Posted December 10, 2005 Author Posted December 10, 2005 As ive never used a DSC panel.. would this work.. Turn off at fuse spur... open panel.. tamper alarm... remove battery... test what i need... battery back on & shut panel at same time... turn on AC... Will it still tamper from the time before? I will be able to close it at the same time as battery connection.. ive done it before. Regards, Ranger The above is my personal opinion and not that of my employer or anyone else.
Guest Posted December 10, 2005 Posted December 10, 2005 Depending of programming sector 701 and option 4..
j.paul Posted December 10, 2005 Posted December 10, 2005 Depending of programming sector 701 and option 4.. Normally defaulted "off" on BG systems.... There are no stupid questions, but there are a LOT of inquisitive idiots.
