Is there anybody who would be prepared to let me help you for free for a week?
Guest
Welcome to the forums. Good luck in your quest. Start by looking at Tavcom training courses, and\or target firms in your area, (what is your area btw).

Do you have any experience with security systems at all? Or electrics? Why the security industry and why France? You can't become an alarm engineer in a week..............at least a week and a half Zak Tankel - Managing Director - Security First (UK) - www.securityfirst.uk.com Disclaimer: Any comments or opinions expressed by me are my own as a member of the public and not of my employer or Company. Guest robinmgb
I have very little experience, just installed an alarm in my own home and for friends in the past. I am setting up in France because my wife is French and we have just bought a house here, it also is way behind the Uk in terms of security and there appears to be a big market in future. I need to learn alot but if I can get work experience and attend a course then I hope I can get underway, I also expect to employ someone experienced but obviously need to have some idea myself. Cool. I wish you lots of luck. Be aware though that things are not always what they seem - and what may appear to be a good opportunity may not necessarily be so (demand for your service, regulations etc.). Why don't you find out what the best selling manufacturers are over there and visit them - they should be able to give you some product training. This is one of the most heavily regulated industries. I don't know how France is fairing with the new EN standards, and what they do and don't do, but you need to read up on all that before you start doing anything. Do they have inspectorates etc that you would be required to join? Guest robinmgb
Thanks for your replies. There certainly is nothing like the demand for alarms over here compared to the uk but also there isn't much competetion. I plan to get in here at the start as I'm sure the market will grow quickly, most things in France are 10/20 years behind the uk. As for working for a company in the uk for free to gain some basic experience, I am available to work anywhere in the uk, I plan to stay in a hotel and having savings to support myself. Robin.
