Guest elvis123 Posted December 13, 2005 Posted December 13, 2005 Hi guys, I am new to this excellent site and would request your assistance. I have recently bought Texecom Premier 48 control panel with all the bells and whistles
bellman Posted December 13, 2005 Posted December 13, 2005 If the phone line is ADSL enabled you will need to fit a filter inbetween the com2400 and the phone line. Regards Bellman Service Engineer and all round nice bloke ) The views above are mine and NOT those of my employer.
Guest elvis123 Posted December 13, 2005 Posted December 13, 2005 Thanks Guys, I'll order one today. So the way it will work for me, will be to connect the BT line to the Com2400, from the Com2400 connect to the ADSL filer magic box, from the ADSL filer to the rest of the extension in the house (which incidentally are already got the standard ADSL filer connected to the telephone and wireless). Guest Posted December 13, 2005 Posted December 13, 2005 If you have the Com2400 connected in parallel to other devices you should also have filters fitted to all analogue telephony devices, such as faxes, sky boxes, phones, analogue modems and answer phones. If you have the Com2400 set up to use the line seize feature, the singular filter before the Com2400 will suffice.
Guest elvis123 Posted December 16, 2005 Posted December 16, 2005 Ok got the magic box, ready to plug it in and got a spark of inspiration! I have the opportunity to plug the BT cable (coming from the pole) to the magic filter box and then to the Com2400. Now, do you see a problem by plugging the raw BT cable directly to the Com2400 or should I be going via the box installed by BT? Apologies in advance if I am asking a stupid question.
Guest Posted December 16, 2005 Posted December 16, 2005 The BT cable off the pole should be left alone. I assume you've got a new style NTE (master socket with removable lower half)? If so, you shouldn't be touching the wiring on the fixed part of the socket. I'm still not sure of you're exact circumstances, I'm assuming you're connecting the Com2400 in parallel with the rest of the extensions? If so, then all you need to do is tap in to the existing cabling and wire to the Com2400 via the filter. Also, make sure you have everything filtered otherwise you may still have problems.
Guest elvis123 Posted December 16, 2005 Posted December 16, 2005 Thanks, yes I have got the NTE socket. Just thought I can eliminate that box by plugging the BT cable directly into the Com2400. And re-use the box in parallel with the rest of the extensions. Otherwise, I'll have to run a cable from the NTE socket to the Com2400 via the filter, then run another cable from the Com2400 to a new BT box and then connect that to the rest of the extensions. But I am happy to run it this way, a few extra wires no problem.
