Fire Detector Questions

Got a quick question about fire detectors. ATM i've got 3x 9V battery powered alarms in my house, and an old Logic 4 panel, which I'm planning on replacing over the Xmas period with an Galaxy 8+ which I've bought off eBay. It's an ex-//.National Installer.// panel and i've worked out it's defaults & aquired myself a manual for it, but as part of the package I also got an SGU-601 CO2 Fire Detector. Sadly it has been de-wired, so i've got no idea how to re-wire it. Also I've only got one of them, I know where I can get 12V Fire alarms (TLC Direct, where i've bought the ADE Panels i've fitted for my friends & family who wanted new alarms) but they have built in sounders, and aren't as nice looking as the ADE supplied one.

I'm currently looking at starting off in the business as a sideline to my other company, I know what i'm doing with most things electrical & computer controlled so it seems a natural progression. I've also dealt with a load of access control stuff (though the bigger jobs i've farmed out to //.National Installer.// etc. in the past simply due to the scale)

Does anyone a) have a wiring diagram for that detector, and B) have any idea where I can get similar detectors from? I'm not adverse to opening trade accounts to obtain them & i'm currently looking into getting public liability cover for the alarm side of the business :)

Phew, lots of questions, please don't flame me if i'm asking the wrong things in the wrong place!

You won't get a wiring diagram for that detector, there's another thread on it somewhere which you may find in a search. Texecom Exodus probably the easiest to get hold of as a replacement.

Regarding setting up doing alarms, rather than just buying something off eBay and then being an installer, try and get yourself some work in your area with another alarm co. It's not a trade where you just fall into it and work everything out by trial and error.

Thought as much, i'd already read that thread but it had degenerated into an argument about how the chap had obtained them :)

You have a valid point, and that's certainley an option, however I don't intend on working everything out by trial and error, certainley not on a customer's system. On my own systems & my own time that's exactly how I work, otherwise I won't learn anything!
