Guest heliart Posted December 31, 2005 Posted December 31, 2005 Good practice or not to also run a door bell button to a spare zone on your panel, and have that zone set to chime. Seems to me to be a good idea, especially if you have numerous keypads and speakers all over the house. No more missed visitors. , Steve

If not every visitor (when you're out) will set your alarm off.
Guest Posted December 31, 2005 Posted December 31, 2005 Don't know about good practice, useful addition possibly.
Paul Giles Posted December 31, 2005 Posted December 31, 2005 ADE used to have this feature on theirs PG Security Systems Somerset SSAIB Certificate of Merit Installers. www.pgsecurity.co.uk
Paul P Posted December 31, 2005 Posted December 31, 2005 We did add it to some Gardtec panels but found the caller did not press the button for long enough for the panel to recognise it so no chime. Didn Trade Member
norman Posted December 31, 2005 Posted December 31, 2005 My Galaxy has 2 exit terms, one on each door, they double up as doorbells and also trigger the CCTV to switch to the relevant camera. Nothing is foolproof to a sufficiently talented fool.
Guest Cyberprog Posted December 31, 2005 Posted December 31, 2005 A nice idea, but my doorbell is hooked into the house PBX anyway so I can find out who's at the door without leaving the comfort of my bed. Phone: Brrr Brrr Brr Alex: Urg, What, Arg! Phone: Do you want to buy some useless **** Alex: Fluffoffyoubastardyouwokeme <click>
Guest Posted December 31, 2005 Posted December 31, 2005 Another part of the installation outside of the protected premises Exactly the same position as an exit terminator, in fact, use an exit terminator as a bell when unset. Do you put a DT outside to cover exit terminators?
Lectrician Posted December 31, 2005 Posted December 31, 2005 Exactly the same position as an exit terminator, in fact, use an exit terminator as a bell when unset. Do you put a DT outside to cover exit terminators? All chubb systems seem to have an exit terminator button - doesn't look too dis-similar to a door bell. Although they do place them high up out of the way on the frames on the ones I have seen.......umm, what if your disabled? Email : martin@askthetrades.co.uk
Guest Posted December 31, 2005 Posted December 31, 2005 what if your disabled? You probably couldn't reach the keypad to start the exit timer anyway so I wouldn't worry about the terminator.
