newbec Posted January 2, 2006 Posted January 2, 2006 not sure how the Veritas service timer works but I'm sure it should have given you some indication before locking out? As far as I know it can be set to chime in different ways on the first 2 timers & lockout on the third. Not sure if you can just set the third on its own, but you can set them all for the same day. Guest Guest Posted January 2, 2006 Posted January 2, 2006 Would i of recognised these different chimes ?
newbec Posted January 2, 2006 Posted January 2, 2006 Would i of recognised these different chimes ? Quote: Service Timer One is designed to be used as a reminder. When it expires it turns on high level chime on all eight zones the first time the panel is set/unset. Service Timer Two is designed to be used as a nuisance. When it expires it turns on high level chime on all eight zones every time the panel is set/unset. Service Timer Three is designed to be used as a lockout. When it expires the panel will require an Engineer Reset Thing is only service timer 3 may have been set. If this is the case the panel will lock out with no warning. Not a practice most people would agree with! Trade Full Member
Guest Guest Posted January 2, 2006 Posted January 2, 2006 Know anybody who services these in Shropshire area ? I live near ludlow, SY8 Just require it to be working !
FASTCAR Posted January 2, 2006 Posted January 2, 2006 If the installer deemed it useful to set service timer 3 , then he may also have locked the engineers code , thus rendering your panel useless ...
Guest Guest Posted January 2, 2006 Posted January 2, 2006 are you suggesting i buy a replacement panel instaed ? If so, where from and how much ?
Guest Posted January 2, 2006 Posted January 2, 2006 are you suggesting i buy a replacement panel instaed ? No, he's saying you may need to get your original installer in to sort this one out as there may be no way for another engineer to access the system menus if the code is locked. If this is the case and it did require another panel I would recommend you choose a different local firm to come and fit one. Persevere with contacting your original installer first though.
FASTCAR Posted January 2, 2006 Posted January 2, 2006 No ... you should still try the original installer , he should have offered a service contract and advised on its benefits. Ask him to unlock his engineers code. You dont need to know his code , but if he goes out of business , another firm can take it over no problems. If you do get him round , wait until he has finished , then pinch his van keys ...see how he likes it.
Paul Giles Posted January 2, 2006 Posted January 2, 2006 Your installer should have 24hr back-up. I would get another installer in ASAP and if the code is locked get the other guy to unlock it for free as he was unobtainable hence you going elsewhere. Am guessing he is not approved?
