Guest mohammad Posted January 4, 2006 Posted January 4, 2006 Hello I bought a house, where there was an euro meridian keypad alarm installed. I got two tags from the owner, but didnt get the code to reset the alarm if it went on. The alarm is not connected to any alarm central, so when it starts i just have to reset it by myself. Now the problem is some days ago the alarm went on, and i tried to reset it, but it needs a code which i dont have. I have tried with the tags, but nothing happens. I called the owner, he just tells me he will look at it, but havent done anything. Now is there anyone who can help me sort it out ? how to reset it ? I was told that it was possible to reset it by opening it, and do something with the leeds. I have asked the company who made the alarm, they said its asking for a number which the alarm central should give me, when the alarm goes on. Since its not connected to an alarm central, thats not possible. Then the only way is to open it, and try it with the leeds, but how ????? Any expert who can help me ?????? thanks
Guest mohammad Posted January 4, 2006 Posted January 4, 2006 I did ask the ex-owner, but he is not for any help. I have searched the net for hours about the alarm, but cant find anything except their homepage, and they wont help me, they want me to call a local alarm shop who can help me. They said the procedure for this is a bit difficult on the phone. But there must be something i can do by myself. I was told this by the ex-owner.

This is not like resetting a heating controller or a video recorder. Alarms are made so that they are difficult to default unless you have the code numbers or specialised knowledge RJBSEC was giving you good, sound advice. You will need to get the correct information from the previous owner or the installer.... or get an alarm Co. to sort it for you.
Adi Posted January 4, 2006 Posted January 4, 2006 There is no point in asking the manufacture to reset it for you. I really can't be ar**** with it anymore.
Deltaseven Posted January 4, 2006 Posted January 4, 2006 Seconded. The only way to reset the alarm is to completely default it (and that is not just a matter of doing something with the leads - it is a complicated process, and not user friendly at all), enter the installing engineer's code or obtain an anti-code from a central station or the installing company. Call a local company who is familiar with the Castle-Care-Tech range, perhaps the installing company, for advice. D7
Zak Posted January 4, 2006 Posted January 4, 2006 From what you have said, it would seem that a single zone activation is resettable with your tag. If more than one zone is triggered then you need an anti-code to the digits that are displayed on the screen when you try and set. This is likely to be because the system was monitored at some time, and those are the regulations. As others have said, if you contact the installer (number must be on the panel or bellbox), then perhaps out of goodwill they will give you the anti-code to reset the system (if that is indeed the problem). Did the fobs give you access to the full customer menus when it was working? If not, maybe the old owner does actually have a PIN code. Furthermore, you are not to know whether the old owner had more than 2 fobs so if I were you I would get this sorted and read through the manual as to how to check that there are no codes/fobs on the system that you are unaware of. It might be better to pay for a call out from a professional company to assist you with this if it proves complicated for you. It is your security after all. I would really try with the original installer. But there must be something i can do by myself. I was told this by the ex-owner. Unless the ex-owner was an alarm engineer then he really doesn't know what he is talking about. How would he know, or assume to know, how to default a professional grade control panel? As the rules of this site dictate, for security reasons no defaulting information is permitted to be given. You can understand why, I am sure.
