Guest nells Posted January 8, 2006 Posted January 8, 2006 Going back to 1990 I serviced an old abel alarm system and for comm's it had a what was called a 999 tape player. This was a neg trip from the alarm panel and the tape would dial 999 and the police would attend the premises. The trick was to remove one leg of the bt line of while you tested the system. After I had carried out all the tests I'd reconnect the wire and get the customer to sign. I was just about to leave when the customer said have you tested this PA button, anonther one! so I just pressed it........ within 2mins the Police where at the door !!! Oh Shhhhhh.......
Guest Alarm Guard Posted January 8, 2006 Posted January 8, 2006 Recently we arrived at a house to fit an alarm, but the woman was obviously crazy and started making unrealistic demands..... telling us which rooms we could go, telling us that we couldn't move certain pot plants ...... that we could only drill between certain times .... she wouldn't let us start work .... she just wanted to dictate everything ..... and there was no way of reasoning with her, so I told her that we were not going to install the alarm and advised her to get another alarm Co. Thats when it got really interesting. She locked me in! and started begging me to stay, sobbing and shrieking ... luckily my mate had got out before she locked the door, so he phoned for the Police... she finally let me out when she knew the Police were on their way. If I had gone there by myself, it could have become very unpleasant. Boy, am I glad we didn't fit her alarm. Can you imaging the problems we would have got afterwards.

Crazy, we all know they are refered to FLM's and not leaders. Nothing is foolproof to a sufficiently talented fool.
Guest Posted January 8, 2006 Posted January 8, 2006 Arranged to do an install for a very overweight lady and her husband - husband leaves for work after I arrive and halfway through the morning she asks me if I would like a cup of tea - "yes please" says I. I'm working in the bedroom and she comes up with a cup marked "I've got the hots for you" I nearly choke on my tea and carry on working but she comes upstairs about every 20 minutes, "Everything alright?" - "Um yes thank you!" says I. Lunchtime comes and I hear the noise of an from downstairs, her husband has arrived home and wants to know why he finds the front door locked on the inside - "You never pay me any attention" she yells and I beat a tactical retreat to the loft! Finished the installation in double quick time and beat a hasty retreat with the cheque - never got to do an annual service for them, they were divorced before the year was up. did you give her one then..

Guest Alarm Guard Posted January 8, 2006 Posted January 8, 2006 I was fitting an alarm in a bungalow. The woman made herself a cuppa, but not for me. She explained that her husband told her when he was alive that she should never make a workman a cup of tea because it added to the cost of the work and they should bring their own tea with them. She has never had the alarm serviced of course, but recntly she called us out on a Saturday evening because it had gone faulty she thought. It turned out to be a battery alarm clock making the noise, not the intruder alarm....... but the call out was quite expensive..... Her husband was wrong. Providing a cup of tea would have SAVED her money!!
