Guest Guest_Mike_* Posted January 8, 2006 Posted January 8, 2006 Hi, please can anyone help? I have a pre-2000 Veritas R8 alarm and my two downstairs sensors have suddenly stopped triggering the alarm (when set both as 'full' or 'part', also during walk tests). If I do a walk test, they don't trigger the lights or the chime on the control panel (my upstairs sensor and my front door sensor still work OK). The problem sensors still appear to be picking up movement because the red movement light on the sensors themselves still come on when I walk in front of them. The control panel just doesn't appear to be picking up the fact that the sensors are detecting something. I haven't done anything (that I'm aware of!) that would affect things, there's only me in the house and I've not tampered, and have had no recent decorating (xmas or otherwise) that would impact the sensors. Please help TIA Mike
Guest Guest Posted January 8, 2006 Posted January 8, 2006 ..hmm..and now after a few hours I've just tried the walkaround again, and one of the two downstairs sensors is now triggering the alarm OK again, but the other one still isn't..I haven't made any changes..I seem to have an intermittent fault..can anyone advise what this could be? Why would a sensor not trigger the alarm this morning, but it does now? Thanks Mike
Guest Alarm Guard Posted January 8, 2006 Posted January 8, 2006 I think the 2 most likely explanations are either a fault on the cable (or cabes) or a fault in the control panel
dpaengineer Posted January 8, 2006 Posted January 8, 2006 Could also be the PIR though. Transistor or Relay popped. First thing to do would be to check the cable (s) for continuity with a multimeter. Though this should really be done by a competent person as it requires opening the PIR and panel to get to the ends of the cable (s). Be aware there is mains voltage in the panel and it should be isolated before removing the panel cover. Also, opening either the panel or PIR's will set the bells ringing (if its fitted properly anyway). Trade Member
