Guest Drax Posted January 14, 2006 Posted January 14, 2006 Hi, I have a Galaxy 16+ installed and has been working fine for a couple of years. However, I want to change the way I set it overnight. Essentially I want one of my zones to be active only when the system is fully set. The engineers guide suggests that I may be able to do this with the 'Link A' zone type but I don't understand what this is or if it is the correct route to go down. The only options Link A gives me are None, G, K and M. How do these letters relate to the Link A functions of Normal, Alarm, Set, Alarm and Set (which is the condition I think I need)? Any help would be great.
norman Posted January 14, 2006 Posted January 14, 2006 Ignore the link function, just add the zone the part set group attribute Nothing is foolproof to a sufficiently talented fool.
Guest Trulloman Posted January 14, 2006 Posted January 14, 2006 Put that zone in P2 the rest in P1 When you night set select P1 ON, P2 & P3 OFF. Links are a totally different thing, as the name suggest 'LINK' it links a zone to an output/function.
Guest Drax Posted January 14, 2006 Posted January 14, 2006 Hi, I am already using P1, P2 and P3 for other areas of the house. Part 1 for some of downstairs, Part 2 for upstairs and Part 3 for the rest of downstairs. This zone sits between the two downstairs parts of the system and I don't really want it to be in use when I part set either of the downstairs zones. I also can't assign it to the upstairs part either. Is there another option on the system that I can use to acheive this (without using the dry contact output)? Links still no use?
norman Posted January 14, 2006 Posted January 14, 2006 Mm, unfortunately the only way I can think at the moment would be to add a key-shunt that would omit that particular zone, not ideal but I will have another think. Nothing is foolproof to a sufficiently talented fool.
willman Posted March 23, 2006 Posted March 23, 2006 The Link option, will switch a input or a output and this could be switched by a code or a keyswitch (if you are not sure what to do use a keyswitch) 1)Put the key switch to a zone and program it as a link. 2)you will have to program the link correctly (follow the Engineer Manual) so the idea behind it is when the keyswitch is shunted it will turn that device off and when un shunted it will leave the zone on The good thing about using the keyswitch option is you can see what the status of the zone is when setting and unsetting. If you use the code option i would recommend installing a led to indacate when shunted. Sorry i can't go to in depth about this as i'm sure you know the rules of the forum. all the information you need is in the Engineer Manual. Regards Will Trade Member
ian.cant Posted March 24, 2006 Posted March 24, 2006 I could be wrong here but you could just OMIT the zone as and when........
