Guest yoghurt Posted January 14, 2006 Posted January 14, 2006 Hi there I have the above system with 1 additional keypad, 4 PIR's and door entry contacts Works fine but am in the process of doing up the house and the Missus has spoken! She wants the system moved about 2 feet (so its in the fuse cupboard), a nice looking(!) new, discreet keypad to operate it and another keypad upstairs) The exisitng PIR's would be left-the system is about 15 years old I contacted Scantronic who 'sensed' I was a normal houseowner about the above and they were unhelpful I think the current system will not take upgraded keypads (but would appreciate someone confirming this) so will have to upgrade the panel+pads. I understand Scantronic are not a bad make and came across the 9651 CONTROL PANEL WITH LCD KEYPAD for about
norman Posted January 14, 2006 Posted January 14, 2006 Hello and welcome, Firstly the system you have would accept 9425 remote keypad's. Scantronic are a good robust control panel, and although I am not 'au fait' with the 9651 I am sure someone else will be able to cast an opinion. Nothing is foolproof to a sufficiently talented fool.

Guest yoghurt Posted January 19, 2006 Posted January 19, 2006 Well I finally ordered a Scantronic 9651, extra keypad), battery and extra door contacts from the friendly bloke at gx-security Am going to thoroughly read the manual but am worried about removing the current 9454 panel- I have opened it up and the wires appear neatly labelled but will the bell sounder be deactivated once I have removed all the wires from it to the panel or do I need to source the original manual for some 'deactivation' sequence/code? Many thanks

Many thanks Don't take this the wrong way but, what do you do for a living? Imagine for example, you were an Estate Agent and I wanted to sell my house. What would you say if I walked into your office and said "I want to sell my house but I don't want to pay you to do it so could you tell me how I go about doing it in great detail and give up your time and effort so that i don't have to pay you". What would you say - **ss off i would imagine. If I need some electrical work done in my house - I call an electrician. If I need some plastering done - I call a plasterer. Guess who I'd call if I needed an alarm.......
Guest yoghurt Posted January 19, 2006 Posted January 19, 2006 I am sorry-I may have the wrong end of the stick hear and may have misinterpreted a forum headed 'DIY Alarm installers' I also agree that an alarm engineer is needed-I simply wanted to try on my own first, then get it checked out

Think about what you have just asked though. You are asking how to stop the noisy part of the alarm making a noise! Unless you have a background in electronics then I don't think it's worth doing it yourself as what do you really learn? How to read a book and put some cables in the terminals that the book tells you too? Will you understand whny the cables go into the connectors afterwards? Some others members may be more forthcoming with assistance for you.
