whistle
It may cost more in the long run to try on your own as you may blow up the panel trying. A panel wired wrong could be damaged and may never work again.
Guest yoghurt
No problem I am a nurse but have managed to learn how to build my own PC's-I am not comparing this to alarm installation but I am just keen to learn (but on a budget!) However it does sound like a professional is needed now Thanks anyway
Guest
My post was not meant to be agressive or demeaning. Think about what you have just asked though. You are asking how to stop the noisy part of the alarm making a noise! Unless you have a background in electronics then I don't think it's worth doing it yourself as what do you really learn? not many alarm engineers have a background in electronics. No problemI am a nurse now your talking My post was not meant to be agressive or demeaning. Think about what you have just asked though. You are asking how to stop the noisy part of the alarm making a noise! Unless you have a background in electronics then I don't think it's worth doing it yourself as what do you really learn? How to read a book and put some cables in the terminals that the book tells you too? Will you understand whny the cables go into the connectors afterwards? Some others members may be more forthcoming with assistance for you. what about the ebay question..
Guest Peter James
Yoghurt Unless you have a ladder and some ear defenders there you wont be able to diss your old system without some noise. (infact even with the ladder and the defenders the box should still activate when you start work on it) There are other ways of preventing the sounder from sounding, but we cant publish this sort of information in the public forums for obviose reasons, and for the same security reasons we cant email or pm this information as we have no way of knowing who you are (wolf in sheeps clothing and all that) Assuming the system was installed properly and it was installed after 95 then the bell will only ring for 20 minutes anyway, and the Police will not attend an audible only system without confirmation that a robbery is in progress. So its only the neighboors you will have to worry about. Pete

Guest yoghurt
Hello Well I have had a go at installing today Finished wiring and programming-tried the walk test (ok)/tested external sounder/strobe (ok) However when leaing engineer mode I get a Zone Fault on Zone 8 I have not wired anything to zone 8-there was a letter with the installation guide saying if a Zone Flt occurs check for correct zone configuration (I have left the default of Closed Circuit) then remove common tamper wiring and fit link across COM A/T which I have done but still the same error. I was not sure about the wiring for the final exit door contact-on the 9454 panel it was: red--EE blue-EE yellow- A/T black-ee next to A/T There was also a link from A/T to A/T PA On the 0651 panel I wired red and blue to Zone 1 yellow and black to A/T I would be grateful for any help Many thanks
