Guest geoffMatthews Posted January 20, 2006 Posted January 20, 2006 I moved into my house and the guy who lived here put an optima plus alarm in himself, which he has kindly NOT left the manual for. I recently wired a new front light in and had to switch the mains off, not realising the back up battery was flat so the alarm cut out. when the power was switch on the alarm went off and i keyed the code in which corrected the main panel but the key pad up stairs has only the power light on and the keys do not respond. Any ideas how i can sort this? with out the manual i'm abit screwed.

You might be better having an alarm company check out the panel. You can power down, power up and replace battery and see if it clears. Do you have access to a multimeter? The charge circuit maybe damaged and should be checked. Alarm Protection Posted January 20, 2006 Posted January 20, 2006 You are better of calling an engineer out for this problem. While he is there gat him to do a full service of the system(the battery in the externall bell sounds dead to)and you will have hassle free years. Phone around and get prices from your local companies. !
kka Posted January 24, 2006 Posted January 24, 2006 while it may be fairly easy for you to change the batteries, if the charging circuit has gone on the panel then this will mean fitting a new panel. the charging circuit will need to be tested with and without a load, unless you are competent and know what to do , the best advice is to call in a alarm engineer. maybe post your location on this site and someone in your area may be able to help. sounds like party line i know, but in the long run it may save you money.
