Guest brummyspark Posted January 28, 2006 Posted January 28, 2006 Hi! I hope someone can help. This forum is awesome and i'm hoping. I'm looking at the board from a 700L that is producing only 0.5V at the supplies to the Battery/Aux/Bell etc. There is 15VAC out of the transformer tho! One clue maybe some very dark patches on the board both round the heat sink, and the Diodes just below the tranny input. Also the system has been disconnected for some time (possibly two years). Not sure whether that was because it stopped working or a chippie chopped some wires! For information, the alarm was last serviced in 2002, the backup battery was left in despite being installed in '97. It is only showing 0.6V so I've obtained a new one already. When connected it slowly discharges and the alarms go off! Advice? Replace a few electronics, the control box, or the whole system? Do some more tests? , brummyspark PS. I'm a sparky thats been asked to move the existing control box, and i've only ever installed Texecom r8s that have never gone wrong!
FASTCAR Posted January 28, 2006 Posted January 28, 2006 Assuming you have checked the fuses , and the rest of the system is working when you attach a good 12v battery , then I would replace the system , its still available (800L now I think) , and very cheap! or better still , stick in an R8 , far better. Regards.
Mavrick_001 Posted January 28, 2006 Posted January 28, 2006 The battery sounds as though is had it, also there sounds like a problem with the charging cct on the board etc, check all the fuses on board, replace if needs be with the same, power up the panel mains only and test the battery leads to see if it's producing around 13v dc. If it's not then the panel has basically had it. If there is 13v dc there then replace the battery with a new one and the system should be ok, obviously you know how to test the voltage on the bell connections and aux 12v on the panel, do this at the same time as testing the battery leads. If the panel has had it, they've been replaced with the 800l basically the same panel but with 8 zones insetad of 7, you'll need to replace the keypad as well as they are slightly different. You can get these panels usally in a kit with the keypad from an electrical wholesalers, the panels are made by c&k but some wholesalers badge them up as there own, city electrical factors for example badge them as something else, they're exactally the same so don't be put off if it doesn't say c&k on the lid CCTV Intruder Access Control Tony Hughes, Proprietor, TRADE MEMBER

Guest brummyspark Posted January 30, 2006 Posted January 30, 2006 The ac out the tranny is correct. Its only dc when it comes out the aux ect... Thanks to all of you! I'm only aware of one fuse ("BATT" and it's ok. so i'll ringing my account manager at CEF to get an 800L in! Although i love Texecom, i don't think the customer could cope with the change in technology....

Although i love Texecom, i don't think the customer could cope with the change in technology.... I reckon that if you have learnt how to install and train a user on one panel -Stick with It! Your customer will learn to love the technology that you know inside out, and your install and programming time will be halved -as will their labour bill?
