Guest NinjaUK Posted January 28, 2006 Posted January 28, 2006 Hi, Im re-decortaing and would like some help. We have a FAI SGII security system and need to remove some wall paper from behind it. Problem is that i cant find the key? My question is anyone know where i can get a replacement key as it appears FAI went into liquidation in 1999/2000 and the contact number that I had no longer works. They only use circular keys so cant be that specalised, can they? Any help you could provide would be great. Look forward to your responce. L
Mavrick_001 Posted January 28, 2006 Posted January 28, 2006 Claw hammer and carefully wrench lid open by bending usally works, it will set off a tamper, as for another key I think it might be a long shot unless someone on here has one, normally nowdays not many panels have keys to get in them CCTV Intruder Access Control Tony Hughes, Proprietor, TRADE MEMBER
Guest NinjaUK Posted January 29, 2006 Posted January 29, 2006 has anyone got a spare key they could lend me? can you buy these circle keys from a key cutting place like timpsons at all?
Nova-Security Posted January 29, 2006 Posted January 29, 2006 get a good locksmith to pick open the lock and change the barrell, then you will have a key without distroying the panel. www.nova-security.co.uk www.nsiapproved.co.uk No PMs please unless i know you or you are using this board with your proper name.
arfur mo Posted January 29, 2006 Posted January 29, 2006 it seems my collegues are slightly off beam here. the key is more commonly known to us 'old fart' guys as a RONIS lock. its unlikely you can get a locksmith to make a replacement, but the barrel will normally have a number stamped on it. it will now depend on if the barrel is part od a registered set, in which case you will not be able to get a replacement for that lock as they are restricted to signature holders. but don't lose heart, i do not know this control panel but Maplins and RS Components do sell several versions of this type of lock, some with micro switches attached some as cam locks, i assume the lock is used to set/unset the system, but it could be a 'cam lock' which secures the lid. you could get an alternative flat key type sinular to Yale from a car accesory shop which will fit the hole. either way i think you would be better advised having this panel updated by a competent installer - you never know he may even have a spare lock, any faults could lead to very noisy sleepless problems - usually at 2 am Sunday morning If you think education is difficult, try being stupid!!!!
