Guest GazSuttonUK Posted January 29, 2006 Posted January 29, 2006 Hi, I have a hall and landing. (2 way Switch) Is there any way to use a Dimmer Switch? Regards, Gary.
norman Posted January 29, 2006 Posted January 29, 2006 a 2 way dimmer switch perhaps. Nothing is foolproof to a sufficiently talented fool.
Guest Posted January 29, 2006 Posted January 29, 2006 Yes, fit a dimmer switch. Use a 2 way dimmer and replace one switch only.

Guest THE VIKING Posted January 30, 2006 Posted January 30, 2006 yep been caught out on that one years ago.(young and daft)can't use two dimmers. You can fit a matching switch at the other end just buy yourself a on/off module it will look like a dimmer but its not that way it will intergate better haveing matching switches both upstairs and downstairs .and if it has a metal face plate dont forget to earth it ( most important)
Guest Posted January 31, 2006 Posted January 31, 2006 that way it will intergate better haveing matching switches both upstairs and downstairs What about all the other switches in the rest of the house?
Lectrician Posted January 31, 2006 Posted January 31, 2006 You can get master/slave dimmers - but why bother? a dimmer at one location is fine - make sure it's a 2way dimmer (will be push on/push off type). Most dimmers will work on low voltage (wattage????), but the transformer will need to be a dimmable type if elecronic, and you will need to downrate the dimmers max watts accordingly. Commonly (no pun), the common terminal is marked with a squiggle (variable) rather than a C. Email : martin@askthetrades.co.uk
