:!: i was called to a customers property this morning, he has a veritas 8c panel that was switched off accidentally. the external sounder activated then when he reconnected the power the onboard sounder started to buzz intermittantly then constantly. it wont accept his usercode and i have no info as to the engineer code. this house is a recently built house (5 yeares) and there ar no user manuals available. any ideas?

get off your high horse muppet were all in the security industry, and we have an obligation to do our best and help our clients.. now as it happens i have passed the job to a qualified alarm engineer and i'm happy to report that the client is satisfied with the level of service.. i'm sorry to say i'm disappointed with the attitude of certain "friends" in the "uk security community". thanks to the rest of you, if you ever need advice on changing something simple as a 4l67 rim lock give me a shout!!!!.

Best bet is to crash the panel and start again.

The older I get, the faster I was.

Theres loads of systems out there that have been installed and forgot about until they go belly up - the insurance won't cover them anyway and,in any event, declaring one to your insurer for a reduction of 5% incurrs more pre-requisites than if you don't have one should you be broken into.

The guy was only looking a pointer to say it was jiggered, and if you know which way round to point a multimeter then you're half way there (as Peter pointed out).

I've been a fire engineer for 16 years but I fixed my neighbours burst water pipe, despite not being a plumber but just to be helpful.
