Guest Paul Doherty Posted February 7, 2006 Posted February 7, 2006 I've recently had new doors fitted to my house and the connetors for the alarm were damaged. I bought new connectots and the instructions stated 'connect the yellow and blue wires to the contact switch terminals and connect the green and white wires using a spare terminal. I have red, blue, yellow and back coloured wires. I am confuesed. Can anybody help.

Can anybody help. your instructions expect that yellow and blue are connected to alarm circuit input and green and white to tamper input at the panel end. the colour of core itself doesn't do the trick but the purpose the core is used to. so you would need to know which colour cores the original installer has used and for what purposes. lucky guess is that red and black are used instead of green and white but it is impossible to know since there isn't any colour standard used within this trade..
breff Posted February 7, 2006 Posted February 7, 2006 If 2 wires are twisted together they are the tamper pair and need connecting to one of the spare screws, the other 2 will be the alarm pair and one of each goes to each of the contact screws. The opinions I express are mine and are usually correct! (Except when I'm wrong)(which I'm not)
