lapat Posted February 10, 2006 Posted February 10, 2006 hello there new to the forum and thank his hollyness of google for pointing me in this direction i have installed a veritas excel into my new house with three keypads, now the problem i have is that i have purchased a text/speech dialer(texecom) to also add to the system. i am not behind the door by no means as i come from an electrical/mechanical/engineering background yet this set up scares me to death as i cant make head nor tale of how to wire the speech dialer up.any advise for oh stupid one here. secondary thoughts can iw ire one keypad direct and daisy chain the other two or will they all need to be in parallel/series and probably not the last question but we will get there.i also have a heavy duty garage door contact to install but all the bl**dy wires are white.where do i start....!!!~~~~##~##s

breff Posted February 10, 2006 Posted February 10, 2006 speech dialler wires into digi outputs on excel, keypads can be daisy chain, star, spur, whatever but are all wired in parallel. get your multimeter out, 2 white cables will have a permanent short, they are the tamper pair, the other 2 will be the alarm pair, check by moving the magnet near the contact and they will go from open circuit to closed The opinions I express are mine and are usually correct! (Except when I'm wrong)(which I'm not)
Anusoflannigan Posted February 10, 2006 Posted February 10, 2006 Your heavy duty door contact.. the pre stripped wires are the switch the other two are the tamper pair. Dont fit many diallers but try this Connect 12v and 0v to aux +/- and use bell trigger to trigger intruder input.
kka Posted February 11, 2006 Posted February 11, 2006 ditto, the last roller shutter /garage door contact i fitted. the two contact wires were stripped at the end, while the two for tamper were not.
