Guest spirochete Posted February 18, 2006 Posted February 18, 2006 Hi, I have the above panel and keypad 'spare', (old-ish I know but perfectly serviceable). It was my intention to install it in an outbuilding (no,not that sort of out-house!), just in case someone decides to have a 'mooch'......trouble is it keeps putting up a 'CD' error, beeping like mad and then locking out the ability to set the panel. The manual - what I have left of it - states this is 'comms disabled' -i.e connection fault - IF connected. To me this implies that it doesn't HAVE to have a phone line ( and its not getting one!), but I'm d*mned if I can find a way to turn this function off. I've given the panel a factory reset -makes no difference. Panel box is labelled as a 4110 UXM and the pcb type is 947P-5. Already spent waaayyyyyyy too long on this - but its turning into a 'me or it' campaign. Am I barking up the wrong tree or is there actually a way of doing this? Any ideas gratefully received. Thanks in advance, Spirochete
norman Posted February 18, 2006 Posted February 18, 2006 Hello and welcome spirochete, The 4110 is a superb panel and you are right in saying that it does not need a BT line, it will however require this option to be altered in the system parameters. This is where it becomes a problem as we are unable to give out specific engineering instructions for the issue of liability. If you are trade then please apply for trade membership and I will be able to assist further, other than that I would recommend getting a local company to disable the line monitor for you. Nothing is foolproof to a sufficiently talented fool.

Monteey Posted February 19, 2006 Posted February 19, 2006 I agree with the manual statement although i would strongly disagree with the fact its a superb panel Mark Hawks Ex BT Openreach Field Service Now Self employed telecom and data engineer www.mphtelecom.co.uk Also back doing sub contract work in the security industry. We used to sit the R/care under the PCB and as with most ADEMCO "Virtualy No User Error" bit dated now though. Jef Customers!

I've had a few keypad problems with them recently, but the systems themselves are over 10 years old so thats to be expected. Guest spirochete Posted February 19, 2006 Posted February 19, 2006 Thanks for the various comments. The relevant code is not in the manual .....(or at least not in the bits I've got).... which is why the question was posted here. I have however sorted it out and thanks to the individual(s) who pointed me to the right area. Regards, Spiro'
norman Posted February 19, 2006 Posted February 19, 2006 The 4110 as the 4170 rocks. (or rather rocked in it's day) I was using these with point ID years ago to an Ademco receiver, then moved 'forward' to 3 pins on a RedCare!!!! Nothing is foolproof to a sufficiently talented fool.
