Hi im not an alarm specialist but i do have a Sterling 10 fitted to my house....

now then over a period of time the remote lcd keypad has become difficult to input the code....it now has given up being able to input a code.......pyronix have said that i need a new keypad insert which they said they would send me F.O.C.....

That is great but i am concerned that when trying to fit the new keypad insert..i may need to follow a certain procedure........could i ask the following.....

1. once the facia from the lcd is removed will it activate the tamper setting on the alarm?

2.is it as simple as removing the old insert and fitting the new one?

3.is there any specific procedures i must follow?

I would most appreciate any help on what i should and shouldnt be doing on changing this keypad...

Thanks for Reading the post

1. Yes, enter your code and this will silence, however it will re sound every time the tamper is breached.

2. Mm, it's a little fiddly.

3. try not to pop any fuses

4. I would personaly pay for and annual service and get the engineer to fit it whilst on site FOC.

Nothing is foolproof to a sufficiently talented fool.

1. Unscrew the keypad, alarm will sound

2. enter your code, alarm will stop

3. Replace the membrane

4. re-secure the keypad

5. press the function key

If you don't know......ask.

Hi Nokiahell

Welcome to the forum, I am sort of suprised that Pyronix havent pointed you in the direction of an installer.

Answer to question 1 Yes you should most definately cause a tamper fault.

Answer to question 2 I havent a clue I am not familier with the sterling (Thats the nicest way I could put it)

Answer to question 3 I guess if I was doing it I would put it in engineer mode take the cover off and swap the component, but unless Pyronix has told you how to get into engineer mode its take the cover off and replace it quick.

My advice would be to call the installer and ask them to service the alarm whilst theyre changing your bit.

thanks for your replies.......i have asked so many people(by telephone) if they would change it for me,but it never happens so im stuck with doing it myself...nobody is interested......apparently theyre sending me the insert so i presumed its remove the cover and change the rubber keypad(similar to changing a phone keypad!!!)...or have i got that totally wrong...i have waited since december to get it fixed...i was going to purchase the complete new remote lcd...but pyronix say its not needed...they then said its easy to do,i found this forum and thought i would ask the experts...

Kind Regards

There is no need to disconect any wires to change the membrane.
