Guest briargate Posted December 8, 2003 Posted December 8, 2003 I have just moved one existing PIR and extended the wire by about 2m. On power up, the power light is on, all the zone lights come on, it seesm to accept the pin code, the internal sounder bleeps but the system will not set. The PIR wires are connected correctly. No prior problems with the system. Any advice appreciated.
morph Posted December 8, 2003 Posted December 8, 2003 did you power the panel down (battery and mains) to do the work. Press reset 3 times. Then try your code. If that doesn't work try 0123or 1234 Has the keypad locked up. When you say it just beeps, is this on its own or when you press a button. Colin.
Guest briargate Posted December 8, 2003 Posted December 8, 2003 Hi Colin, Thanks for your quick response. Much appreciated. 1. I didn't power down the battery (forgot!) 2. It beeps when I press the buttons to insert the pin code - just as normal, but the system does not set. Regards JD
morph Posted December 8, 2003 Posted December 8, 2003 Providing you are sure the connections are correct. Check the fuses with a meter.( replace any that are blown) Power the system down (battery and mains) wait 15 secconds power it back up(mains then Battery). Then try your code. Colin.
morph Posted December 8, 2003 Posted December 8, 2003 had a thought, when you put your code in does it try to set.
Guest briargate Posted December 8, 2003 Posted December 8, 2003 Colin, Thanks again. In reply to your last thought, it does not set. I put in the PIN code as normal, the control panel bleeps and continues to bleep but does not set. A point about fuses. Are these on the pcb or elsewhere? Regards JD
morph Posted December 8, 2003 Posted December 8, 2003 okay the fuses are on the main pcb. if when you close the lids and reset the system everthing is okay. then when you enter your code the system tries to set but does not, what zone lights are on, if it is the zone for the pir then, there is a wiring fault. does the pir normally have a light to show it is sensing(if yes is this working if it isn't then you have blown a fuse)
Guest briargate Posted December 8, 2003 Posted December 8, 2003 Hi Colin, Many thanks, again, for this help. I will follow your suggestions and let you know how I get on. I think a fuse may be the problem from what you say. best wishes JD
Guest briargate Posted December 9, 2003 Posted December 9, 2003 Hi Colin, It was a fuse - and a duff PIR. Again, many thanks for helping me out. Regards JD
