arfur mo
still on the original batteries and I've never replaced or maintained anything - however the time has come for it to go. Many thanks 12 years on the same battery? this is nether good or very smart practic. if say you have never maintained the system, how would you know if the battery will last for several hours or seconds?. if you have 'winged' it for so long you leave your neighbours at wrisk of a disturbed few days, and the Police at risk of your poor practic. if power cuts occur while on you are on holiday and this can happen due to constrution works in the localality how long would your rechargeable have lasted for? the A1 panel may have worked fine, it is not a very sophisticated kit, and has no low battery monitoring, where as many better quality panels do. change your battery every 3 years - it don't cost that much, by the way hows the brakes and oil doing in your car? have a look at the smoke detectors batts in your home too? you 'economies' are false one's, as an IT person you should know the value of good procedure and backup, so have no excuses based on cost due to your earnings, or claim lack of knowledge not to maintain something you say you know how to. alan If you think education is difficult, try being stupid!!!! Guest italiastar
Thank you for your reply. 12 years on the same battery? this is nether good or very smart practic. if say you have never maintained the system, how would you know if the battery will last for several hours or seconds?. if you have 'winged' it for so long you leave your neighbours at wrisk of a disturbed few days, and the Police at risk of your poor practic. if power cuts occur while on you are on holiday and this can happen due to constrution works in the localality how long would your rechargeable have lasted for? Whilst I haven't maintained it, I have checked it - still 12.74 volts and it lasts about 10 hours when I switch the mains off - I recently tested it - well done Kobe batteries. I'm not that daft - that's why I want to change the kit, before it annoys the neighbours the A1 panel may have worked fine, it is not a very sophisticated kit, and has no low battery monitoring, where as many better quality panels do. - I very much agree 110 % - that's why I wanted to buy professional kit 12 years ago, but no one would sell it to me at a sensible price - thank fully times have changed and market forces mean the'll sell to anyone - I can not get proper kit for the same price as the A1 12 years ago. change your battery every 3 years - it don't cost that much, by the way hows the brakes and oil doing in your car? have a look at the smoke detectors batts in your home too? Thanks for the advice - also thanks to this site I'm able to maintain the system properley and install a proper system in the correct way. you 'economies' are false one's, as an IT person you should know the value of good procedure and backup, so have no excuses based on cost due to your earnings, or claim lack of knowledge not to maintain something you say you know how to. I also agree - hence why I'm looking to replace the kit before it causes any problems - the cost of kit has actually dropped in the last 10 years - any advice would be much appreciated and taken on-board. alan
arfur mo
Thank you for your reply. checking the battery voltage (is your meter calibrated and certified?) and a mains off test for 10 hours, so why say you have never maintained it?? accurate information is required for accurate response and thus accurate advice!. alan If you think education is difficult, try being stupid!!!! Guest italiastar
Apologies - I thought that maintenance would involve more checks. Anyway, problem sorted, I now have a newly installed system ............. lets hope it performs as well as the A1.
