Guest jim atkinson
Can anyone help please? I have had an Optima XM alarm in the home working well for years. I needed to move its location which involved joining on to the original cabling to lengthen it. I have wired it the same as I have taken it off(i think) but the alarm will not now set. The exit bleeping is continuous and it shows a fault in zone 1. Zone 1 covers two rooms and in one of the rooms the sensor is not illuminating. I have rechecked the wiring and it seems ok. Any ideas please. Many thanks, Jim Atkinson

morph
You have a wiring fault. Remove the witing from zone 1 fit a wire link in its place... test the system... all clear- fault is on the alarm circuit wiring.

Guest jim atkinson
which wire did you lengthen ?what is on zone one, two sensors ? one sensor and a switch ? Thanks, I lengthened all the cabling to every connection by about 5 metres. Zone 1 covers two rooms with a sensor in each. One of those sensors was not illuminating. , Jim
morph
Double check that you have power at both devices, if they both lit up prior to you moving them, then double check your wiring joints and that you dont have the +/- reversed in the device. Thank you. I did not disconnect at the sensors themselves - they were not moved - I lengthened from the panel end and think I wired correctly but one sensor will not light and when I set the alarm to leave the premises. It does not set but bleeps continuously showing a fault on zone one which includes the room with the sensor that does not light. There are two rooms on zone one and the wiring into the panel was replaced as I found it with white wire from one room into the + zone1 and the blue from the second room into the -zone 1. The blue from room 1 is linked to the white from room 2 and taped together inside the panel but not into any terminal. Hope this makes sense! Again many thanks. morph
Presumably you are using Red as + and Black as - . You need to check that both reds and both blacks are connected to the power feed on each cable It sounds as though the power connection to the faulty zone is not correct this may be because it has not been reconnected in the panel or in the joint.
