  1. You are Al If new Co did as they should no problem. But if new Co isn't approved and or not insured the sites insurance will look to the firm that is. Modern times of litigation you need to protect yourself or you will find you may have breached your own insurance terms.
  2. Not if the incoming Co doesn't default as the original programming remains. If the original programming for whatever reason is argued to be at fault because the original programmer can't prove it has been changed may be liable. An insurer won't take that risk
  3. I disagree I'd lock it, but would charge to unlock. But would reset it for free if the board was dropped off. It's not to lock in a customer it's to protect the company from malicious claims. I'd assume the outgoing firm would do something similar
  4. you should always chnage default codes. So id assume you did
  5. If you swap the bell and strobe terminals in the panel does the bell sound and the strobe not activate?
  6. Just give it power only and meter the alarm relay. However if the led is staying on I'd say its goosed
  7. Happy.christmas Bear in mind this forum is funded by security professionals. I hope the free advice has helped
  8. Alan it will need a service I'm not saying you can't do it yourself but if you never service it will fail at some point. Do some preventative checks
  9. This should always been changed leaving anything with default codes is a huge risk on a system designed to be secure. All systems need to be serviced or they will eventually fail, usually at 2am etc
  10. id assume you havnt got the lid on correcrtly or you have damaged the tamper switch. You have done nothing else but remove the lid of the panel? its also going to need a service even if you do it yourself
  11. Regarding ha texecom have the lead. That's a hack but imagine if a proper panel supported it
  12. Don't know the panel but I'd attempt to save it.
  13. no not poor design just different ages and ways of doing it. you cant just write of all the gear for 1 reason. same issues with gals for instance. they afaik dont offer remote flashing. look at all things from that era, redcares and old (pre ww1) couldnt be upgraded remotely. eaton i think can but not scanny 9800 etc
  14. correct the hkc panel downloads the firmware image checks it then overwrites. So if it fails half way through etc it ignores the upload. I think the texecom does a direct write so if it fails half way through it bricks. Other gear is like that too it depends how much storage space is available and id say the firmware file on the texecom is larger than the hkc as the panels are more than 240 circuits
